Bailiffs

The Law varies in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland but the general principle is the same. They may be appointed by a court to seize assets or by a commercial landlord to recover debt or reposses premises.

In my very considerable experience these are cool headed people who are not easly upset. They can EITHER seize goods OR take possession of the premises - not both.

Most normal people react to the threat of bailiffs by paying up - if they don't then actually sending in the bailiffs always works because at that point it is all getting a bit heavy and even if the main man is not worried his staff and customers most certainly will be and he will either pay up or fold.
